The hamlet of Le Claux is in the hills (406 metres high) 12 minutes from the pretty town of Argentat on the River Dordogne. Argentat is a friendly town of picturesque buildings, riverside restaurants and cafes and is a thriving centre of the arts.
Corrèze is a generous land of orchards, age-old chestnut trees and trout-filled rivers. It’s heart is firmly fixed in its local cuisine and here you can find produce of every kind locally produced. Its farmers’ markets thrive in the summer months and you cannot travel far without finding a local producer inviting you to try their own particular speciality - cheeses, strawberries, foie gras, confits of duck, home-reared Limousin beef or pork, walnuts, honey - you want it, you can find it!
Masses to do and see: the River Dordogne provides all water-based activities, and Corrèze has many lakes with beaches. Fishing is a major activity.
Golf courses are within easy reach. Major attractions such as Rocamadour, Sarlat, the volcanic mountainous areas of the Auvergne, and too many “most beautiful villages in France” nearby to mention. This is a terrific area for walking in incredibly beautiful scenery and for wildlife. |
